Please watch: "Mines Act 1952 | Video No 1| Committee | With MCQ | In HINDI |" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USzxioNpomo -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Bord and pillar is an underground mining method for extracting coal from belowground of earth. Various machinery combinations are used for extracting. One of the combination is the continuous miner and shuttle car. Continuous miner cuts the coal from seam and load into shuttle car. This video shows working the combination of the Continuous miner, feeder breaker, power central, load haul and dump machine , shuttle car and roof bolter effectively. It has a working sequence according to an availability of the face. All these explanations are in the Hindi language.

The Australian Centre for Geomechanics has developed this safety training DVD for underground metalliferous mine workers. To purchase this product or find out more information, visit http://www.acg.uwa.edu.au/shop#trainprods Overview All underground mine workers will be exposed to drilling and blasting processes. The aim of this new DVD is to provide workers with the critical knowledge on drilling and blasting to aid appreciation of the importance of these mining processes and their related hazards. The DVD features an introduction to the rock breaking process in mining, followed by a section on how to handle, store and transport explosive products. The third part of the DVD covers development drilling and blasting practices; and the fourth part discusses production drilling and blasting. Target Audience Underground mine workers - the need to identify the potential hazards of working near or with explosives, and the protocols of re-entering a working area after blasting. Workers responsible for development and production drilling and blasting activities. This DVD will review drilling and blasting fundamental concepts that are critical to achieving optimal rock breaking outcomes. All industry stakeholders - those keen to learn more about drilling and blasting in underground mines. Caterpillar has extensive experience in the design of roof supports for specific mining conditions. Cat Longwall Top Coal Caving (LTCC) roof supports allow mining of seams seams thicker than 6 meters (20 feet). Following a conventional cut with a shearer to about 3 m (9.8 ft) the roof supports move forward and allow the caving of the top coal behind the roof supports a second conveyor mounted gob-side. This special LTCC method enables increased coal reserve recovery for only an incremental additional cost. This animation shows how it works.

Room and Pillar Mining: Modern Coal Mining at Its Best When it comes to underground mining, there are different ways to approach removing coal, depending its structure and location. At the current Carlisle Mine and developing Bulldog Mine, Sunrise Coal is using the room and pillar method. Safe, Efficient & Environmentally Friendly Room and pillar is a non-subsidence plan for a mine, preserving the precious farmland above. It is among the safest and one of the most ecologically-friendly approaches to mining coal today, creating a non-subsidence environment (no movement of land) and maintaining clean water standards. Removing Coal from the Earth As the name indicates, large pillars of coal (40 feet wide) are left standing to help support the roof of the mine—more than half of the coal remains intact as supporting pillars to maintain the integrity of the surface land. The end result is a grid of open space (rooms) cleared by a continuous miner machine and separated by pillars. Once the coal is cleared and placed on a conveyor belt to our state-of-the art surface wash plant, roof bolters enter the new area to secure the roof, inserting fully grouted 6-foot metal rods every four feet. At the wash plant, rock and debris are separated from the coal so that it can be cleansed of sulfur and other minerals in preparation for our customers. The room & pillar mining method is used predominantly for underground coal deposits, however also for potash deposits. Coal is not completely being mined out from the underground deposit, but pillars are left standing to keep the roof from caving in. Caterpillar offers a complete range of machinery for this mining method. The extensive room & pillar product line includes a seamless range of continuous miners, face haulers, continuous haulage systems, feeder breakers, roof bolters as well as a broad range of battery- and diesel-driven utility vehicles like scoops and LHD vehicles. Underground coal mine :- Most coal seams are too deep underground for opencast mining and require underground mining, a method that currently accounts for about 60 percent of world coal production. In deep mining, the room and pillar or bord and pillar method progresses along the seam, while pillars and timber are left standing to support the mine roof. Once room and pillar mines have been developed to a stopping point (limited by geology, ventilation, or economics), a supplementary version of room and pillar mining, termed second mining or retreat mining, is commonly started. Miners remove the coal in the pillars, thereby recovering as much coal from the coal seam as possible. A work area involved in pillar extraction is called a pillar section. Modern pillar sections use remote-controlled equipment, including large hydraulic mobile roof-supports, which can prevent cave-ins until the miners and their equipment have left a work area. The mobile roof supports are similar to a large dining-room table, but with hydraulic jacks for legs. After the large pillars of coal have been mined away, the mobile roof support's legs shorten and it is withdrawn to a safe area. The mine roof typically collapses once the mobile roof supports leave an area.

This is a short video/photo collage of pillaring in Southeastern Kentucky. This is a process of mining the coal pillars which are the primary roof support in an underground coal mine. This process is to allow you to mine the maximum amount of coal, the mine roof just behind the pillars are suppose to collapse, but due to MSHA regulation and fear of injury/death the amount of pillar to be removed is highly limited and the number of timbers/temporary roof support is increased. This often causes the weight on the pillars to ride back behind the working area creating a more dangerous situation than normal.

HOT can help you to maximize ore reserve value basis on our operating expertise We have years of underground mine engineering and operating experience and across multiple commodities using all common mining methods. Especially, we have many successful design and operation experiences for underground coal mines those are thin coal seam, large dip angle, as well as many faultags. And most of these coal mines (thin coal seam) are designed and operated by longwall mining method (fully mechanized mining). The thin coal seam longwall method helps to satisfy the highest safety standard and more margins. ● Large dip angle, thin coal seam longwall（dip angle range: 35°-55°） ● Thin coal seam, very thin coal seam longwall（Thinnest seam range: 0.8m ~ 1.3m）

Exploring deep inside a beautifully intact 1890's era red ore mine. Mining methods back then called for the room & pillar method when extracting red ore while going deep underground. Large sections were left intact for better roof support. Coal mines also adapted and used this mining method. The flooded sections of this mine were encountered roughly 1300 feet down from the opening. Very rare access was granted to explore this site as it resides on private property.
