Charge is introduced into a rotary Kiln.The rotary kiln consists of a steel cylinder about 150meters long and 4meter diameter and rotates 30 to 60 turns per hour.At one end of the cylinder a screw conveyer is arranged which slowly allows the charge into the cylinder.The other end of the cylinder, a burneris arranged coal or burning oil is burnt at this end.The charge entering the cylinder slowly moves towards the hot end.At the burning end of the kiln, the temperature is around 1700 to 1900degrees centigrade, at this end some chemical reactions takes place between calcium oxide and aluminium silicates.Mixture of calcium silicates and calcium aluminates is formed.The resultant product consists of gray hard balls called clinker cement.Clinker cement is cooled, ground to fine powder and mixed with 2 to 3 percent of gypsum.

Southport Lumber Mill, North Bend Oregon
Taken during a tour organized by Leadership Coos. This is a modern, highly automated mill that specializes in small diameter Douglas Fir logs, 18" in diameter or smaller. They produce green and kiln dried wood products, with bark, wood chips, and other materials utilized as completely as possible. With logging practices limited to younger stands of trees, this is a market that older mills designed for old-growth and large size logs can't compete with, and in fact there are a shrinking number of mills that have the capacity for those larger logs these days. This is a video that attempts to show the journey of logs from unloading off the log trucks, being cut to size, and then being sorted and packaged onto rail cars. The technology is fascinating, and as you can see the process is very quick. As each log enters the mill it is measured and analyzed for the most profitable and productive use according to continually updating market pricing for lumber. Lumber sizes that are getting higher prices will be cut more often, when possible, and continually adjusted to match demand. Individual logs are debarked, cut to length, and processed through a series of saws while being oriented to make the most of each log. Lasers, optical scanners, and other devices are used to continually scan the wood and evaluate the milling process in real time as it moves to the next step. Very little human interaction is evident, although there are people observing the line at all times. There is a high degree of technology at work here, and the production volume is high. As a commodity product, producers make very little profit so must maximize their volume to generate the needed revenues to pay operating costs, repay their investment, and continually reinvest into the facility. Coos County is heavily investing in natural resources, and it is the major contributor in our economy. Mining, wood products, fishing, livestock, dairy, and food products are all historical and current industries. Many are family owned, as is Southport Lumber. They contribute current sustainable and efficient practices in our rural areas, employ local workers, and are often active in our communities. We value our heritage, and appreciate all of the business owners for their investments and contributions. Unfortunately, this was takes with a small digital camera and did not have a higher definition option. In the 2000s, the definition of "entrepreneurship" has been expanded to explain how and why some individuals (or teams) identify opportunities, evaluate them as viable, and then decide to exploit them, whereas others do not, and, in turn, how entrepreneurs use these opportunities to develop new products or services, launch new firms or even new industries and create wealth. China's first gas hydrate extraction successful
China successfully extracted natural gas hydrate for the first time in the South China Sea on Thursday, the China Geological Survey announced. This means China is the first country in the world that can produce steady gas continuously. Gas hydrate is essentially solidified methane also known as "combustible ice" and is seen as a future source of energy with great potential. 2017, Eben Robinson, Medal of Merit under 40, Amer. Mining Hall of Fame
The Mining Foundation of the Southwest is pleased to recognize Eben Robinson, Area Manager, Arizona and New Mexico, Southwestern Energy, as a 2017 recipient of the Medal of Merit Under 40 for induction into the American Mining Hall of Fame. Born in Kingman and raised in Wickenburg, Eben Robinson wanted to design cars from concept to production. At Wickenburg High School he enjoyed wood shop, football and wrestling, graduating as Salutatorian and earning a scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at The University of Arizona. Confronted with the reality that his scholarship would not extend for a second year and his education might be halted, Robinson reached out to friends he had made in the UA Mining Department and was awarded a Phelps Dodge scholarship to study Mining Engineering and ventured into an unexpected new vocation. In 2001 Robinson joined IMC Potash (later Mosaic) in Carlsbad, NM, where he worked in all aspects of underground engineering, served on the Mine Rescue Team, ran continuous improvement programs, oversaw a core drilling campaign, supervised a 16-man production crew, and chaired the Potash Section of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) In 2005, Robinson returned to Arizona for Phelps Dodge (later Freeport-McMoRan) as Senior Engineer in the Mine Technology Group. He left in the copper crash of 2008 as Program Manager, working on innovation projects in haulage and mass material transport in the US, Chile, and Peru. Following a stint as Maintenance Manager at Marco Crane and Rigging, Robinson joined Southwest Energy LLC in 2010 as Technical Services Engineer. He was soon promoted to Innovation Manager, working to improve safety and efficiency in commercial explosives used in mining. Robinson is now Area Manager in Arizona and New Mexico, where he looks after mining accounts for Southwest Energy, as well as forecasting and logistics for Apache Nitrogen. Viewing responsible resource extraction as the most basic means of defeating poverty and improving living standards globally, Robinson once chaired the Tucson Chapter of SME for three years consecutively and has served as Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Mining Foundation of the Southwest. He is currently a member of the Industry Leadership Board of the Mining Department at The University of Arizona. Robinson was a recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award in Mining Engineering at the UA, the SME Outstanding Young Professional Award and the SME Program Area Manager Award.

When asked by his chemistry teacher what he wanted to do when he left school he had no idea, "I think I wanted to be a fighter pilot." At age 26 he's destined to be a Top Gun in Australian mining, and is already making million dollar decisions every day. Daniel works for Energy Resources of Australia (ERA), and is their first indigenous chemical engineering graduate under Rio Tinto's graduate placement program. In fact, he's graduated with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Daniel joined ERA as a production metallurgist - his role is to assess and extract valuable product from mined resources. This flair for chemistry made his chosen career a natural choice, but Daniel says that another reason for his interest in metallurgy was the opportunity to help protect the neighbouring Kakadu National Park's waterways. Daniel is involved in a project which aims to reduce the amount of process water produced in the laterite plant, which is part of the production process. And this sense of responsibility extends to his immediate community, through the Clontarf Foundation. This highly successful program encourages indigenous kids to attend school in exchange for football club membership, training, mentoring and more. In fact, Daniel has always demonstrated a talent for Australian Rules Football, and plays at a semi-professional level for St Mary's "I couldn't believe how big the MCG was" says Daniel with a raised eyebrow. Now these skills have returned to the Top End, where he spends time with the kids as a role model to show them there are other pathways if you are not successful in footy. "Daniel is definitely a mentor to young indigenous people" says Penny, his proud Mum. He also travels to schools to share his story. The main message for his people is that you can achieve anything if you apply yourself. Daniel Hill is the case in point, "His potential is to be a leader in this industry" says Shane Reeves, Plant Operations Manager at ERA. But Daniel Hill doesn't want his achievements to be glorified because of his indigenous background. He wants people to think, as he says, "you only get ahead through hard work and dedication." Daniel sits and looks out on the beautiful shores of Northern Territory's Bulgul region and says "There's a feeling of belonging when you're out here." Ironically, his dream is to work overseas. Penny believes that, "He'll probably end up working overseas as a CEO, but he has a strong connection to this land here and he'll always come back." "If they let me go, they'll know I'll come back sooner or later" confirms Daniel. Australia hopes so, but wherever the world takes him in the meantime, we'll proudly claim Daniel Hill as one of our own.

Our technology is now completely ready for industrial use, and in 2018 we plan to build the first commercial production line. Hummingbird Resources boss Dan Betts talks new funding and gold mine development
Hummingbird Resources Plc (LON:HUM) chief executive Dan Betts told Zak Mir that it is an exciting time after securing funding for the Yanfolila gold mine in Mali. The Africa focussed mine developer is one of very few companies in the world that’s actively building a new gold mine. Construction work is advancing apace at Yanfolila where production is envisaged at some 132,000 ounces of gold per year in year one. The Yanfolila development got a major shot in the arm on Tuesday as Hummingbird secured a US$55mln debt funding package. Following on from a £45mln equity placing earlier this year, it means that Hummingbird has cleared the final corporate hurdle and can look forward to producing gold. The salt extracted from this operation may have had a direct correlation to the rapid growth of this society's population soon after its initial production began.[ The harvest of salt from the surface of Xiechi Lake near Yuncheng in Shanxi, China dates back to at least 6000 BC, making it one of the oldest verifiable saltworks. Salt was included among funereal offerings found in ancient Egyptian tombs from the third millennium BC, as were salted birds and salt fish. From about 2800 BC, the Egyptians began exporting salt fish to the Phoenicians in return for Lebanon cedar, glass, and the dye Tyrian purple; the Phoenicians traded Egyptian salt fish and salt from North Africa throughout their Mediterranean trade empire. Along the Sahara, the Tuareg maintain routes especially for the transport of salt by Azalai (salt caravans). Gold may be on the verge of breaking through its 200 DMA at $1260 on huge volume as the Trump Honeymoon period wears off in the USA. Interest in gold and silver as a safe haven should grow as I expect the US attempts to devalue the US dollar and slap tariffs on currency and commodity manipulators such as the Chinese. The whole balance of diplomacy is changing in front of our very eyes as the US under Trump is a major wildcard. This could lead to an absolutely huge move in gold and silver quickly to $1500 per ounce and then a possible accelerated breakout move through 2011 highs at $1900 and move closer to $2700. If this moves occurs junior mining investors will be quite content sitting on emerging junior producers. For years I have ventured into Colombia as an exciting jurisdiction to find high grade gold. In addition, my research showed that Colombia was supportive of mining especially certain provinces where mines can be permitted under 2 years. Some of our early investments are coming into commercial production and have moved from the Venture exchange to the TSX Big Board and have made close to 5 baggers for early subscribers from back in 2014. For years these reserves of gold in Antioquia were left untouched due to a civil war. There was fear of kidnapping/ However, recent peace treaties is opening up the riches of Colombia gold to the world. The rebels have laid down their arms and peace has returned. This means the untapped gold resources is now open for development and exploration. Antioquia Gold $AGD $AGDXF is one of two juniors that have survived the bear market in gold got permitted and are moving into production. In addition the upside could be enormous. The last sixty years has left the ground untouched. Now with modern technology the majors may be looking at these junior producers and saying maybe there is a lot more high grade at these projects. This is a high grade deposit that is around 5 grams a tonne. They own about 70% of the shares and are backstopping the construction loan which de-risks Antioquia financially and technically as they have a lot of mine planning and gold processing experience. This Peruvian Group is taking a huge bet on Antioquia and Colombia as they may see at as a near term dividend producer with the long term upside potential of a lot of high grade gold.
