AROUND THE WORLD without visas
You will not surprise anyone with around-the-world travel in the 21st century. People span the globe by land, water and air, on foot and by bicycles, alone and with their families. Generally speaking, any around the world travel is, in fact, a journey home with the longest detour. Nonsense! Thus, around the world travelers are forced to think of new vehicles – from stilts to a children's scooter, or of new conceptual ideas. Valery Shanin can not complain about lack of ideas. The professional traveler, writer and journalist, began his first circumnavigation back in 1999. He returned home only in 2002, traveling mostly hitchhiking. On the one hand, he has spent 1080 days for this travel. And on the other – only 280 dollars! This way having made one of the most economical circumnavigations. Five years later, Valery Shanin had another idea. How about trying to circle the Earth as quickly as possible, by saving time instead of money? How many days would be necessary for this purpose? 108 – such is Valery's answer. After having returned home from such a high-speed expedition, Shanin decided, that the subject of circumnavigations was settled for him. But how can the traveler stay still at home? And here, a new idea turned out! It came obviously from the former traveling experience, that was often connected with the burdensome procedure of obtaining visas. Communication with the embassy and consulate officials, unfortunately, inevitably saddens any most interesting travel. However, there are countries, visa-free for Russians! So, it is possible to go traveling, without addressing consulates. This is how the project "The World without Visas" was brought to life. Valery decided to begin with no less, than with a circumnavigation. "Around the world without visas!" - Shanin put forward the loud slogan, and left for Europe, Africa, Middle East, Indochina, South East Asia, Oceania, South America, Carribean islands. 38 countries in 255 days and with no one visit to any consulate.
2014 QUT Grand Challenge Lecture - Energy Crisis: Developing New Materials - F Rosei
Presented by Professor Federico Rosei (University of Quebec). As the age of cheap fossil fuels comes to an end, humanity faces an energy crisis. Many alternative energy sources are being investigated and developed. The challenge is to replace fossil fuels on a short time scale with new energy sources that are economically viable and environmentally sustainable. In this lecture, Professor Rosei will present the general picture of the looming energy crisis and discuss some possible solutions. In particular, he will describe the use of advanced materials and nanotechnology for energy saving, energy storage and energy conversion. Professor Rosei and his colleagues’ research into nanoscale systems, surfaces and interfaces is driving the development of materials and devices with improved properties. Federico Rosei has held the Canada Research Chair in Nanostructured Organic and Inorganic Materials since 2003. He is Professor and Director of Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, Varennes (QC). Professor Rosei has published over 160 articles in prestigious international journals, has been invited to speak at over 150 international conferences and has given 20 public lectures around the world. His research focuses on the properties of nanostructured materials and how to control their size, shape, composition, stability and positioning on suitable substrates. He has received numerous awards, including the Rutherford Medal in Chemistry from the Royal Society of Canada, the Herzberg Medal from the Canadian Association of Physics and the FW Bessel Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Then it broke through the clouds, tall and black and beautifully deadly — the Gern battle cruiser, come to seek them out and destroy them. Humbolt dropped inside the stockade, exulting. For two hundred years his people had been waiting for the chance to fight the mighty Gern Empire ... with bows and arrows against blasters and bombs! The Great Khan. This was a man born Temujin to a clan leader father who was later poisoned. The family was left unprotected and without power to fend for themselves on the Eurasian Steppe. Genghis later rose to power and founded the Mongol Empire, one of the largest in all of history. Despite his great achievement and ferocious reputation there is much we do not know of him, even what he looked like. Historians state that there is not a single portrait of the man that survives to the present day. All current renditions are done after his death by people who never knew him. His death is recorded and his entombment discussed...but all remains to be found. Summary by afutterer Genre(s): Antiquity

LibriVox: A lively picture of the origin and completion of the Suez Canal (built between 1859 and 1869) and his architect, Vicomte de Lesseps. This is the translation of a lecture given before the Societe de Gens Lettres in Paris, in April 1870 by de Lesseps himself. (Summary by Availle) Wikipedia: Ferdinand Marie, Vicomte de Lesseps GCSI (French: [də lesɛps]; 19 November 1805 – 7 December 1894) was a French diplomat and later developer of the Suez Canal, which in 1869 joined the Mediterranean and Red Seas, substantially reducing sailing distances and times between Europe and East Asia. He attempted to repeat this success with an effort to build a Panama Canal at sea level during the 1880s, but the project was devastated by epidemics of malaria and yellow fever in the area, as well as beset by financial problems, and the planned de Lesseps Panama Canal was never completed. Eventually, the project was bought out by the United States, which solved the medical problems and changed the design to a non-sea level canal with locks. It was completed in 1914. ▶ Audiobook Bestseller - Playlist: https://goo.gl/jmnpGQ ▶ The Best Audio Books HD Playlist: https://goo.gl/qbQubi ▶ Popular Classic Literature AudioBooks: https://goo.gl/8dh9VT ▶ Literary Classics And Audio Books To Learn English: https://goo.gl/8EcEnJ #audiobook #audiobooks #freeaudiobooks #bestaudiobooks #suez #canal Title: The History of the Suez Canal Author: Ferdinand de LESSEPS (1805 - 1894) Reader: Availle Genre: Art, Design & Architecture, Memoirs, Modern (19th C) More infromation: https://librivox.org

Southern Ocean
The Southern Ocean (also known as the Great Southern Ocean, Antarctic Ocean, South Polar Ocean and Austral Ocean) comprises the southernmost waters of the World Ocean, generally taken to be south of 60°S latitude and encircling Antarctica. As such, it is regarded as the fourth-largest of the five principal oceanic divisions (after the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, but larger than the Arctic Ocean). This ocean zone is where cold, northward flowing waters from the Antarctic mix with warmer subantarctic waters. Geographers disagree on the Southern Ocean's northern boundary, and some even its existence—considering the waters part of the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans instead. Others regard the Antarctic Convergence, an ocean zone which fluctuates seasonally, as separating the Southern Ocean from other oceans, rather than the 60th parallel. Australian authorities regard the Southern Ocean as lying immediately south of Australia. This video is targeted to blind users. Photovoltaic system
A photovoltaic system, also PV system or casually solar array, is an installation designed to supply usable solar power. It consists of an arrangement of several components, including solar panels to absorb and directly convert sunlight into electricity, a solar inverter to change the electrical current from DC to AC, as well as mounting, cabling and other electrical accessories to set-up a working system. It may also use a solar tracking system to improve the system's overall performance or include an integrated battery solution, as prices for storage devices are expected to decline. Strictly speaking, a solar array only encompasses the ensemble of solar panels, the visible part of the PV system, and does not include all the other hardware, often summarized as balance of system (BOS). Dr. Peter Beter Audio Letter 77 : Nuclear War; America; Russia - July 28, 1982
Dr. Peter David Beter - Audio Letter 77 - July 28, 1982 Text: http://www.peterdavidbeter.com/docs/all/dbal77.html MP3: http://archive.org/download/DrPeterBeter_AudioVideoLetters/drpeterbetter_audioletter_77.mp3 (1) The growing momentum toward Nuclear War I (2) America's domestic shift onto a war footing (3) The rising pitch of Russian anti-war warnings " Hello, my friends, this is Dr. Beter. Today is July 28, 1982, and this is my AUDIO LETTER(R) No. 77. Early this month, on July 6, there was an unusual news report from Russia. That day an Aeroflot Jet Transport had crashed on take-off from Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport. It was a spectacular flaming crash that killed all 90 persons on board. What was unusual about this news item was that it was made public so quickly. Usually plane crashes in Russia are announced more quietly and often after a delay of hours or even days--but not this time. The Aeroflot flight that crashed on July 6 was an international flight bound for Africa. Some of the passengers were students returning to their homes in Sierra Leone and Senegal. Under the circumstances, Russian authorities had no choice but to release the news without delay. Within hours it was included in news reports around the world. Within hours after the Moscow tragedy, investigators at the scene discovered that this had been no ordinary plane crash. In the midst of the twisted, smoking wreckage of what had been the Aeroflot plane, conclusive proof of sabotage was found. A report about the sabotage was flashed to KGB headquarters at Dzerzhinsky Square in Moscow. There the report was directed to a special task group assigned to deal with growing acts of internal disruption in the Soviet Union. A mounting campaign to create internal turmoil in Russia is going on, created by Bolshevik agents there. So far there has been little news about this in the West, but it's a real and deepening problem. Within 36 hours the KGB special task group was able to confirm what had been suspected. The sabotage of the Aeroflot jet had been carried out by one of the Bolshevik disruption groups which have been under surveillance in the Moscow area. These groups, like others all across Russia, are being financed and directed by the Bolsheviks here--now headquartered in the United States. The KGB notified the Kremlin of the results of its investigation of the Aeroflot sabotage early on July 8, just two days after the crash. Those suspected of having carried out the sabotage were under arrest, but the question remained: how to send a message to the Bolsheviks in the United States to cease and desist from similar acts? It does no good to talk to America's present rulers. Action of some kind was required, and fast. Various possibilities were discussed and rejected for various reasons. Retaliation for the Aeroflot crash had to be designed to convey a clear message to the American Bolsheviks in terms they understand. The message the Kremlin wanted to send was: We know what you did to our plane. We have the means to destroy you and the will to use it if necessary. For the message to be effective, time was of the essence, and so a "target of opportunity" order was given jointly to the KGB and the Russian Space Command. The KGB was ordered to select an American air liner for destruction within 24 hours. The criterion for selection was to be a passenger list as similar as possible to that of the sabotaged Aeroflot plane. The Aeroflot plane had carried many foreign passengers and a total of 90 persons had been aboard, therefore the KGB was ordered to select a commercial air liner in the United States with similar characteristics; that is, there must be at least 90 persons aboard and an unusually high proportion of foreign passengers. The Russian Space Command would then have the responsibility of destroying the air liner on take-off, just like the Aeroflot plane. [...]"

Ghost Stories of an Antiquary by M.R.James Vol.2 | Full Audiobook with subtitles
Ghost Stories of an Antiquary M. R. JAMES Montague Rhodes James was a medieval scholar; Provost of King’s College, Cambridge. He wrote many of his ghost stories to be read aloud in the long tradition of spooky Christmas Eve tales. His stories often use rural settings, with a quiet, scholarly protagonist getting caught up in the activities of supernatural forces. The details of horror are almost never explicit, the stories relying on a gentle, bucolic background to emphasise the awfulness of the otherworldly intrusions. “Ghost Stories of an Antiquary” was written as two collections, presented here as two volumes in a single work. There is a short author’s preface before the first story in each volume. (Summary by Peter Yearsley) Genre(s): Horror & Supernatural Fiction
AUDIOBOOK - DINOSAURS (Including The Original Pictures)
I extensively combined two different Public Domain works that covered the same book "DINOSAURS With Special Reference To The American Museum Collections" by William Diller Matthew, published in 1915. It took me several days to do it all. One was the visual book from Project Gutenberg. The other was the audio Librivox reading of the Gutenberg book. So, other people have dumped the Librivox audiobook into a video unchanged, along with the Librivox CD case pictures unchanged, and posted it to their pages. That is fine, they are Public Domain. BUT NO ONE HAS WHAT I HAVE! I altered the audio to remove redundant parts and to replace parts that were missing. I DRASTICALLY sped up the audio so it runs at 1.5 times speed, because I am too impatient to listen to the relaxed pace of the original; that reduced the length from 4.5 hours down to 3 hours. Then I altered the pitch of the voice to be close to the original readers voice, for Jeffrey Smith of Louisiana. So this audiobook recording is MUCH different than either of the original Public Domain works. And it is MUCH different than anyone else's version on YouTube. That allows me to have a copyright on this version, so I claim the copyright on this.

The Cruise of the Snark Audiobook by Jack London | Full Audiobook with subtitles
The Cruise of the Snark (1913) is a memoir of Jack and Charmian London's 1907-1909 voyage across the Pacific. His descriptions of "surf-riding", which he dubbed a "royal sport", helped introduce it to and popularize it with the mainland. London writes: Through the white crest of a breaker suddenly appears a dark figure, erect, a man-fish or a sea-god, on the very forward face of the crest where the top falls over and down, driving in toward shore, buried to his loins in smoking spray, caught up by the sea and flung landward, bodily, a quarter of a mile. It is a Kanaka on a surf-board. And I know that when I have finished these lines I shall be out in that riot of colour and pounding surf, trying to bit those breakers even as he, and failing as he never failed, but living life as the best of us may live it.
