Hatch Embroidery V2: NEW!! Redwork embroidery fast with the new tool!

10:09
WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF EMBROIDERY! This is a video on the new Hatch Embroidery V2 that was recently released! One of the best NEW TOOLS in Hatch 2 is the REDWORK TOOL! Back in the "old days" redwork embroidery was difficult to do. It required some serious time and energy to create redwork properly. The most difficult part is the plotting of the design - not only did you have to plot out the entire design so that it doesn't have any jump stitches, but you had to make sure that each line was stitched twice! It's time-consuming and frustrating! I used to dig out crayons and markers to do the plotting so i would get it correct! FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THAT IMPOSSIBLE WORK! Now you can create stunning redwork with only a few clicks. Make sure that your lines are connected - they need to touch or cross over at least. When you are done doing the lines, select the entire design AND CLICK ON THE REDWORK TOOL. aaaannnnndddd its DONE. all of the plotting and pathing is done with one click. try it and see! It's easy and fun! I don't hate redwork anymore!! SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL by subscribing to the channel, liking the video and sharing the video to let us know you want MORE! Fasade Backsplash Installation

Fasade Backsplash Installation Learn more at https://diydecorstore.com/ 0:27 Surface prep 0:41 Determine height and layout 1:01 Cut backsplash panels to size 1:33 Cutting for an outlet 2:09 Clean back of panel with alcohol 2:17 Use J-trim 2:32 Using tape application 2:48 Using tube adhesive 3:10 Remove protective film 3:18 Pressing panels to wall 3:38 Remove adhesive with mineral spirits 3:43 Outlet covers 4:30 Alison admiring her beautiful kitchen Transcript: Today I’ll show you how easy it is to update the look of your kitchen using Fasade backsplash panels. When we’re done you’ll be amazed at the transformation. And it only takes a few hours. Before installing your new backsplash, we need to make sure your kitchen walls are prepped. As you can see here, the surfaces where you are going to install panels are clean, dry and smooth. Lightly sand any glossy surfaces to remove sheen. These steps will ensure proper adhesion of the panels. Determine the height and general layout of your backsplash project. You can lay out the panels on a table or floor if you need to visualize your layout. Start from the left side and work to the right. Or, if your layout is to be centered at a focal point, such as behind a sink or stove, then build out from both sides of the focal point. Cut your first backsplash panels to size using a sharp utility knife, scissors or tin snips. When using a utility knife, score the finished side of the panel using a steel straight edge as a guide. Apply light pressure on the first pass with the blade. Then gradually increase the pressure on a few more passes. There is no need to try to cut through the panel. Just bend it back and snap it off. If you’re using tin snips or scissors, be sure to draw your cut lines and follow the lines. If you have an outlet, light switch or other obstacle, you’ll need to cut the panel to allow access. Measure and mark the border of the opening on the panel. Score along the entire border with a utility knife making a few passes with a bit more pressure each time. Then, in the center of the area to be removed, cut a half inch to one inch triangular hole through the panel. Next, with a sharp scissors or tin snips, cut from the edges of the triangle to the corners of the border scores. Then carefully bend each corner area along the scores until they break free. Before you apply adhesive to the backsplash, clean the back side of each panel using isopropyl alcohol with a paper towel or cloth. Use our half inch j-trims for panels like Waves that have substantial depth. There are two ways of applying the backsplash to your walls: double-sided tape or tube adhesive. If you’re using high bond double-sided tape, apply three horizontal strips of tape on top, middle and bottom of the panel. Do not remove the release film from the tape yet. Be sure to fit and locate each panel prior to installation as the adhesive tape is very aggressive. If you’re using tube adhesive, we recommend Loctite PL Premium. Apply the adhesive to the back of the first panel using an S pattern, using a 3/16” to ¼” bead. A 10 oz. adhesive tube covers about 2 backsplash panels. A 28 oz. tube covers 5 panels. Be sure to read the adhesive manufacturer’s directions. If your panels have a protective film, remove it before installing any panels on the wall. Place the panel into position and press against the wall using your hands to apply pressure firmly and evenly across the panel and squeeze out any air bubbles. Add additional panels in the same fashion. After an hour, re-press panels to ensure a good bond, overlap and placement. If any adhesive gets on the front of the panels, use mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol to remove it before it dries. We also offer outlet cover laminates that perfectly match our backsplash panels. Here’s how to apply the laminate: 1. Align pattern or grain direction to match backsplash. 2. Cut around cover with a hobby knife. 3. Peel off the backing and apply the laminate to the front of the outlet cover. 4. Cut small squares out at each corner to allow a fold. 5. Then fold over the edges of the outlet cover. 6. Cut away the switch hole with your hobby knife. If the style of panel has substantial depth like this Waves panel, you may have to shim out the outlet covers to accommodate the depth of the panels. Use clear silicone or matching caulk to seal the edges of outlet covers if necessary. Now you’re ready to step back and admire your new kitchen makeover. This kitchen now has a beautiful new look. In just a few simple steps, we’ve replaced the old backsplash with Fasade’s fresh modern decor. It’s easy, affordable, and available in hundreds of styles and finishes.

Testing Sewing Machine Settings for Sweater Knits

03:14
How do you get smooth seams when sewing sweater knits? How do you sew seams that don't ripple? Get the free download at http://www.craftingfashion.com/2018/02/a-roadmap-for-improved-sweater-knit.html Smooth seams begin with well prepared fabric. Just as you would wash any other fabric before you even think of cutting, the same is true for a sweater knit. Sweater knits are generally washed at the knitting mill that produces them, but wax (to help the fabric knit smoothly on the industrial knitting machine) and soil (sometimes present with natural fabrics that haven't been bleached or dyed) may remain in the fiber. Your careful washing of the fabric will do wonders to remove any debris that remains stuck in the yarn. The properly washed fabric is fuller with a little more body and stability. Washing may impart enough stability to keep the seams from stretching when you sew. Indeed it's the stretch of some sweater knits that causes them to ripple when sewn. Both natural and synthetic fabrics will yield a better result after washing. The key is to squeeze water from the fabric without stretching. (Roll fabric in towel and squeeze. Never wring.) Allow the fabric to dry flat, without stretching, and allow the fabric to find its natural size. Remember to serge or zigzag any cut or unfinished edge before washing and to follow the care instructions for the fabric. So you've washed and allowed your fabric to dry. Now is the time to test your sewing machine settings for that smooth seam. Follow the link above and get the download for success with sewing sweater knits. I test regular sewing machine settings with the fabric I'm using for a cardigan sweater in this video.

Car Seat Poncho Safety & Dangers of Bulky Coats with Alternatives: NO COATS in CAR SEATS

02:59
Did you know you’re NOT supposed to buckle your child over a coat in their car seat? Don’t believe us? See links at the bottom. TRAVELING PONCHOS: Safer than a coat in the car seat, double-layered, reversible, warm, cozy, in uniquely designed patterns. Promote toddler independence while keeping your little one safe without buckling them over bulky coats this winter in the car. They grow with your child and fit 6 months to 5 years +. These are the SAFER way to travel this fall and winter. Show Now https://birdyboutique.com/collections/car-seat-ponchos SAFE: Did you know a coat can add 4 inches of slack into the child’s harness straps, leaving them at risk of ejection from a car seat? No more worries about safety when buckling your baby over bulky coats or clothing with our Traveling Poncho! It simply goes on your child over the buckles and seatbelts. It's easy: take your child out into the car wearing the poncho, sit them in the car seat, flip the back part of poncho over the top of car seat, hold the front up while you buckle your child, and place the poncho over buckled seatbelts. QUICK: Save time getting in and out of the car. The Traveling Poncho slips on over your child’s head, allows for extra room for a hat if needed, rest of poncho spreads over your child’s body for full coverage and warmth. The poncho is made of super warm soft fleece, it’s rectangular and long enough to provide warmth. Kids have the freedom to move their arms or keep them under the blanket for warmth FITS: One Size, the poncho fits kids 6-12 months old in a car seat and up to 4 or 5 year old walkers in their convertible car seats, growing with them! Parents of new walkers should assure child does not trip on poncho when walking, as it may be long. MOMMY MADE: Designed in the USA by a small company in Michigan! Dozens sold to happy moms and dads all while supporting a mom owned Michigan-based business! UNIQUE: Custom printed fleece! Every pattern you see on our ponchos was carefully thought out, designed, and printed just for Birdy Boutique. You won’t see these patterns or fleeces anywhere else! This unique reversible fleece poncho was designed and created with one thing in mind: SAFETY. You can put the poncho on your child to walk from home to car, then lift the poncho front, buckle up your child, and put the poncho back down over your child. That’s it! Hassle Free Safety, Comfort and Warmth. The poncho can placed over the seat in the back so as not to create excessive bulkage behind your child’s head when in the car or stroller. The front is long enough for coverage and can be tucked in around the sides. Freedom of arm movement is paramount as most kids don’t like to have their arms constrained. The hood can be on or off and has enough room for an extra hat if needed. The adorable design options, both sides, are a major bonus! DID YOU KNOW? There is a 75 to 95% misuse rate with clothing and car seats. It’s just not safe to buckle over the coat, period. When we know better, we do better. This is why we design and offer these, and they are here to put your mind at ease. Don’t believe us? Check out these supporting links: “It’s a mistake any parent can easily make in winter: putting your child in a car seat bundled up in a winter coat. One of the coolest things is we got to use so many different types of tools doing this project: the CNC of course, but also a wide variety of power tools and even some hand tools! This was our first time working with a slab, and now we want every piece we do to have a live edge! Haha but serious, it was really cool. We learned so much about processing the slab and the lumber, about how to match up two slabs to make them look like one big one, how to clean up our live edge, etc. This project makes us want to up the woodworking capabilities of our workshop and do even more builds like this. Hope you enjoy the how to!

Cubism: Nissan Cube @ 2008 LAAS

01:25
MORE LA AUTO SHOW STORIES: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/losangeles/2008/2009nissancube.html We've driven a 2008 Nissan Cube in right-hand-drive Japanese specification. We've also seen it as an art project in the hands of students from the Brooks and Pratt Institutes. Now at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, we're seeing the 2009 Nissan Cube, an actual production car that you'll be able to buy in the spring of 2009. The steering wheel is on the left side in this Nissan Cube, of course, and at 156.7 inches from nose to rump, it's nearly 10 inches longer than the previous-generation Cube we tested and it also rides on a 4-inch-longer wheelbase. If we were in Japan, there would probably be a third-row seat stuffed into this extra space, but for us, the extra length merely translates to more cargo room and better crashworthiness. As before, the second-row bench slides fore and aft. Fortunately, Nissan's box-shaped car hasn't grown so large that it's no longer cute: It's still more than 10 inches shorter than the Scion xB and a foot shorter than Nissan's Versa hatchback. Just as important, the 2009 Nissan Cube has the same overall shape as its iconic Japanese forbears and retains their signature styling cues. Up front, the slotted grille and lozengelike lighting elements are familiar - Nissan hopes the fascia design makes you think of a "bulldog in sunglasses." In back, you can't miss the asymmetrical swing gate and the wraparound illusion for the rear glass. Inside the cabin, the JDM Cube's front bench seat has given way to traditional bucket seats, and the cabin strikes us as more individually designed than the prepackaged setup in the Versa. Flowing curves and oblong vents help disguise an otherwise unremarkable dual-cowl dash. Look up and the wavy, circular motif continues as concentric circles ripple out from the center of the headliner. On the lengthy accessory list, you'll find "Magic Rubber Bands," which, says Nissan, are colorful rubber straps that allow you to secure maps, photos, towels and small stuffed animals to the door armrests. You see, the 2009 Nissan Cube isn't just a car for young people. It's a car for young, weird people. There shouldn't be anything weird about how this Cube drives, though. Ours will come solely with a 1.8-liter inline-4 engine rated at 122 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque - just like in the Versa. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), both driving the front wheels. Performance probably won't excite you, but the Cube should be lighter than the Versa, so it won't be slow. Suspension still consists of struts in front and a torsion beam in the rear, but with the new Cube's longer wheelbase and wider 195/60R15 tires, we're expecting better control in the ride and handling department. The steering uses electric power assist. Nissan says it will offer base, S and SL trim levels on the 2009 Nissan Cube. We don't yet know how they'll be priced, but we expect all but the base model to come with air-conditioning, power accessories and keyless entry. Safety features include full airbag coverage, antilock brakes and stability control. Among the factory options are keyless start, Bluetooth, an upgraded Rockford Fosgate stereo, satellite radio and iPod integration. Unusual for a subcompact, there's an option to add rear sonar, too.

TEDxBloomington - Shawn Achor - "The Happiness Advantage: Linking Positive Brains to Performance"

12:29
Shawn Achor is the winner of over a dozen distinguished teaching awards at Harvard University, where he delivered lectures on positive psychology in the most popular class at Harvard. His research and lectures on happiness and human potential have received attention in The New York Times, Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, as well as on NPR and CNN Radio, and he travels around the United States and Europe giving talks on positive psychology to Fortune 500 corporations, schools, and non-profit organizations. Achor graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with a BA in English and Religion and earned a Masters degree from Harvard Divinity School in Christian and Buddhist ethics. Now he is the CEO of Aspirant, a Cambridge-based consulting firm which researches positive outliers-people who are well above average-to understand where human potential, success and happiness intersect. Based on his research and 12 years of experience at Harvard, he clearly and humorously describes to organizations how to increase happiness and meaning, raise success rates and profitability, and create positive transformations that ripple into more successful cultures. In Shawn's TEDxBloomington presentation, he says that most modern research focuses on the average, but that "if we focus on the average, we will remain merely average." He wants to study the positive outliers, and learn how not only to bring people up to the average, but to move the entire average up. www.goodthinkinc.com About TEDx In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBloomington, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBloomington event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
