Turbine Oil Purification in hydroelectric power stations with CMM-T unit
Turbine Oil Purification Systems is an important process to ensure reliable operation of equipment at hydroelectric power stations. These oils are used in turbine control systems and its elements, such as oil pressure units, gate servos, rotor wheel servos, bearings and thrust bearings. Contamination of oil with sludge and moisture causes electric erosion of bearings, reduces reliability of control systems and sealing of turbine generator shaft, resulting in wear of resistant pads and bearing halves (resulting in higher costs of repairs and maintenance), degrades performance and reduces the service life of turbine oils. Analysis of failures, defects and damage of equipment indicates that 20-25% of incidents are caused by problems in the oil supply and by deteriorating quality of turbine oil. Replacement of turbine oil is expensive, with high costs of purchasing fresh oil and disposal of used oil. This is especially true if there is a potential to extend the service life of used oil, in spite of the decline in its performance. An oil-water separator for turbine oil purification does not always provide the necessary degree of water and mechanical impurities removal. The same can be said about another method utilizing filter elements for cleaning of turbine oil. The pores of the filters let through solid particles which are harmful to both the oil system and the entire turbine. Cleaning turbine oil using GlobeCore CMM-T mobile oil station fully restores oil performance to normal standards and makes the restored oil suitable to be used again. The CMM-T unit operates equally well with turbine oils, hydraulic and thermal power plants, at facilities of national importance and in hazardous conditions. Using GlobeCore units for cleaning turbine oil every time when the oil acid number rises above the permissible levels will extend the life of turbine oil; it will save money on buying fresh oil and disposing of waste oil. FLOGISTIX Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU)
Flogistix. The leader in production optimization, welcomes you to this animated look at our vapor recovery unit. As wells produce oil, gas is also produced in two ways. Flash gas is produced from the initial separation process, and solution gas is produced over time as oil is collected in storage tanks. Oil fills the tanks, and the volume occupied by the tank vapor is displaced, increasing the pressure of the gas. Most tanks are designed to release this gas at 12 ounces of pressure or less. Without a vapor recovery unit, or VRU, the pressure of this gas is too low to flow into a sales line and must be either vented or flared. Venting tank vapors to the atmosphere costs money, is dangerous, and is harmful to the environment. Tank vapors typically have a very high BTU content and are up to twice as valuable as dry gas, resulting in lost revenue. Tank emissions are greenhouse gases that are 21 times more potent than CO2, and incur fees and pentalties, increasing operating expenses. Vented gas also poses a safety hazard as combustible mixtures are formed near the tank battery. Flaring gas does less damage to the environment, but is just as costly. Operators that flare tank vapors are literally burning millions of dollars of high BTU gas each year. With the Flogistix VRU, you can capture this revenue and virtually eliminate venting and flaring. As the tanks fill with oil, the VRU draws the tank vapors off at a precise pressure, typically between 4 and 8 ounces. This rich gas stream is then compressed and discharged into the sales line, producing revenue for you. I have many more videos like this, so make sure to subscribe if you like it. This is very dangerous work, so much could go wrong. The guy is working 40' above ground, the hoisting blocks weigh about 3000 lbs and come within inches of his head. The elevators, that latch the pipe in, close with great force and could easily crush his hand. This job is slowly getting phased out, but there's a long ways to go yet. How to operate an Offline Filtration Trolley - HYDAC OFTM The HYDAC filter trolley OFTM is an air operated mobile oil service unit used to filter oil when filling systems, transferring hydraulic and lubricating fluids and to provide offline fluid filtration. It is convenient for offline filtration, easy to operate and aimed to reduce the life cycle cost of your system. In this video we will show you how to operate this unit. In this video we will show you how to operate an Offline Filtration Trolley, HYDAC OFTM. The OFTM is an air operated mobile oil service unit used to filter oil when filling systems, transferring hydraulic and lubricating fluids and to provide offline fluid filtration. The unit has a unique foot operated lever that tilts the wheel into a best position, reducing the load for the operator. It also allows the unit to be locked safely into position before starting the operation. Make sure you have clean dry air available. We recommend between 6 to 12 bar. Select the oil card according to the fluid that is going to be used. As the trolley is capable of handling different fluids, including HDA Glycol, the cards inform other operators of the fluid that is currently being used. To start the operation, remove the suction hose, which is the hose that has a larger diameter, from the trolley and place it in the tank or drum. Do the same with the return line hose, which is the hose that has a smaller diameter. Ensure that the air isolation valve is closed and connected to the air supply. Turn the air isolation valve on. The operating speed of the OFTM unit should be selected to avoid cavitation of the pump, in this case we have a low viscosity fluid, but when using high viscosity fluid the pump speed must be reduced. Select the mode you would like to operate the trolley in, transfer or filter. The ‘transfer’ mode will only transfer the fluid from one tank to another without using your filter element. On the ‘filter’ mode, the oil passes from the pump through both filters in cascade. You can change the mode without turning off the pump. And it also has test points to allow the connection of a particle counter with 1 point pre filter and 1 point after filter. The filter element is easy to change and doesn’t require special tools. Use your hand to unscrew the housing and replace the element. The pressure indicators are visible from both sides. The OFTM is convenient for offline filtration, easy to operate and aimed to reduce the life cycle cost of your system. It was a portable HF receiver, transmitter, and power supply combination that was typically carried in a "suitcase". A manufacturer of the SSR-1 receiver is reported to have been Finch Telecommunications of Passaic, NJ [ref. 28, page 233]. Major Henry Shore, a former RCA employee, was in charge of the development of the SSTR-1. Shore wanted RCA labs in NYC to work on the project, but they were much too busy with other wartime projects, so it was agreed that an RCA employee, Earl Anderson, would work at home on his own time. Anderson was given one of the existing AC/DC sets as a starting point, but he had to make major design changes, especially in the transmitter. According to Dean Cortright, the dimensions of the units were chosen so that they could fit inside a typical European loaf of bread. During the war, updates were made to the design, which resulted in changes in the specifications. Receivers went up to at least version "G", and transmitters to version "E". National Archives photos show at least 5 variations of the SST-1, each of which is different from the SST-1-E pictured below [see Brunner, ref. 28, pages 234-235]. One variant includes an RF ammeter to indicate antenna current, while 3 other variants appear to have a round filler panel to replace the meter with an antenna tuner knob that is marked 'RF Amperes' in conjunction with a resonance indicator lamp. The Archives photos also show two variants of the SSR-1 that are each different from the SSR-1-G pictured below. One of the SSR-1 models appears to be a very early version, as it covers 2.7-16 MC (not 17 MC), and uses a 0-100 tuning dial that is not calibrated for frequency... SSTR-1 notes from a user: It had a single 6L6 as a tri-tet oscillator/final and had 10 watts power output. However opening the long slender case the 6L6 was mounted horizontally and could be immersed in a jar of motor oil. Then with a better power supply I could turn this into 50 or more watts. Also with more filtering it would follow a bug at 25 wpm, which it would not do so before. There was also an ancillary unit which was a power amplifier using a single 815 tube and a pi-coupler antenna tuner in the same enclosure. The thermocouple device [battery charger] was [nicknamed] the YTB-1 ("Yak Turd Burner"). The official nomenclature of the YTB-1 was the SSP-3. The SSR-1 receiver was noted for drifting. We used to remove the screws from the case and remove the guts from the case just a bit, and using a pencil to move the case slightly back and forth it was nudged back to frequency...

VZ Environmental Increases Efficiency with Vac-Tron Vacuum Excavators
VZ Environmental is an innovative leader in secondary drip and spill containment for the oil and gas industry. Carol Van Zandt, owner of VZ Environmental, was challenged by a customer to find a simple method to contain liquid spills in the oil and gas industry. Carol partnered with an equipment supplier to design a drive-over foam bermed containment membrane (VMatz™) to capture and dispose of drips and spills on oil and gas sites. They then utilize a Vac-Tron vacuum excavator to clean up the spill from the containment membrane for proper disposal. Today, VZ Environmental provides equipment nationwide, servicing areas in five states and have plans for further domestic and international expansion to continue to help oil and gas operators minimize their impact on the environment. Project Descriptions VMatz are spill containments that VZ provides for oil and gas operators to minimize their impact on the environment. “Our customers use the VMatz to catch drips and spills while on location and then we come in to cleanup,” says Carol. VZ wanted to provide their own vacuum service to their customers as part of the cleanup process, so that the customer didn’t have to waste time and money calling out for a vacuum truck company and VZ environmental didn’t have to sit on location and wait for the vacuum truck to arrive before they could cleanup. Solution Vac-Tron vacuum trailers for vacuum service and cleanup. “The Vac-Tron trailer helps us clean up our VMAtz by removing the fluid from our containments more efficiently and a lot faster. We are not sitting on location waiting on vacuum trucks to arrive. Prior to having Vac-Tron vacuum trailers in our fleet of equipment, we did not offer any type of vacuum service. Our customers had to order a vacuum truck to come help us remove the fluid when we were cleaning our Vmatz. Our Vac-Tron units come with 500-gallon debris tanks and 1,000 cfm which helps us pick up the rocks and sludge that our customers leave in our containments. This is a perfect size because its small and they can park it off to the side, then call upon it as needed,” says Carol.
