The Tesmec 1075 Bucket Wheel model has been designed as a high-productivity trencher for pipelines and utilities projects in dirt and light rocky soils. Its buckets can be equipped with conical or spade tools to ensure the maximum productivity according to the relevant ground conditions. JOBSITE EXPERIENCE IN RUSSIA Project details The job site is located about fifty kilometers from Novyj Urengoj, which is the center of extraction of Russia (approximately 68% of gas and 45% of oil of the entire Russia come from that region). The project entails the creation of a 1,000 km-pipeline from Novjy Urengoj to a location close to Surgut. Pipe diameter is 18’’ with the TRS 1075 digging at 8 ft (2.44 m) deep. Before the arrival of the TRS 1075, drills and explosives were used with excavators cleaning the site. However, this process was slow, expensive in the long term, and inaccurate regarding digging dimensions and directions. Criticalities of the project Actual temperatures ranged between -35 C and -45 C, with peaks at -55C. Due to the marshy nature of the land surrounding the right-of-way , it is necessary to conduct digging operations when the surface and the marshland are completely frozen. Considering the soil conditions and the frequent change of season, which affects the properties of the soil, it requires an excavation of about 1.8 meters for the laying of a 18” pipe in order to avoid the risk of breaches/cracks in the pipe caused by the movement of the pipe itself once laid underground. ***Advantages of Tesmec machines*** Thanks to Tesmec bucket wheel trencher, different goals have been achieved: • Productivity of up to 400m/h. The trencher cuts the minimum required ditch width and yields less cubic meters dug for each linear meter of production. • Possibility of executing a double cut (two parallel excavations) and finishing the digging operations using just three machines: one trencher, one bulldozer to smooth the way for the trencher and one excavator to cover the first dig and later reopen the implemented double dig. This also includes Logistic and Environmental advantages. • Perfection excavation (“rectangular” type, with well established measures and not of “V” type such as that one made by the excavators with inaccuracy), and consequently less material moved. Restoration of ditch is easier and less expensive than excavators because a vertical wall trench requires less backfill material than a “V” wall excavator trench.

These technologies deal with automated machines that can take the place of humans in dangerous environments or manufacturing processes, or resemble humans in appearance, behavior, and/or cognition.
