Gold 'mother lode' worth $15 million unearthed in Western Australia

02:14
Underground miners in outback Western Australia have unearthed rare gold specimens which geologists are calling a "once-in-a-lifetime discovery". Workers at the Beta Hunt mine near the small town of Kambalda, 630 kilometres east of Perth, have brought more than $15 million worth of gold specimens to the surface in just four days. The gold-encrusted rocks were found about 500 metres below the surface in an area just three metres wide and three metres high. How To Get Into The Mines With No Experience - The Truth Revealed

02:46
http://www.highprofits4u.com How To Get Into The Mines With No Experience These days can be challenging as many mining companies are not hiring... I have asked myself 10 years ago how to get into the mines with no experience as I migrated from Israel back then without any mining background .... The most valuable thing to do as i learnt from my journey on how to get into the mines with no experience is you have to apply to any job just to get your foot in the door first , from there you will know people and make connections that can help you go further . The second valuable thing you have to have is your attitude to succeed and willingness to learn anything , be very coachable and trainable and open minded , this helped me heaps when i got started . Today as demand for resources has slowed down it is very hard to get a crack specially when you have no experience so i would recommend you checking the online business i have been involved in 2 years now having nice results ....Just visit http://www.highprofits4u.com put your email as i will be sending you a free video that explain it all .. Until then good luck and see you on the other side Cheers Anan Lashin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQcZv3XS0SA http://gazpo.com/video/mining/1096/how-to-get-into-the-mines-with-no-experience

Kalgoorlie underground mine tour

17:06
Patrick (Paddy) Hannan discovered gold in the area that was to become Kalgoorlie in 1893, soon after this (6 months), the first mine was started. Now located as part of the Mining Hall of Fame complex, just to the north of Kalgoorlie, this is a tour of a very small section of that mine, now open to tourists to gain an insight into the mining practices in the late 1800's. A hard life it must have been, chasing the gold in the seams of quartz which were to be found running deep into the earth. Kalgoorlie, one of the larger mines on earth, 'streets paved with gold', a truism, the worthless mullock from the mine was once used as road base for the streets of the town. This was later found to be high grade Telluride, a sulphide of gold. Soon the streets were dug up and returned to the mine for processing. Such yarns abound it this modern outback town which in many ways still retains a frontier feel to this day.

This is main pit when BHP finished here they through everything, machines plant, equipment you name it, into the pit and buried it, now it is being removed to gain access to the rich ore. The Iron Ore here is of high quality 67+%, you can weld the rocks together. This mine was opened originally pre WW2 lucky the Japs didn't get into Darwin and come down & get their mits on it......... Things would be dramatically different in Aussi today............any way Koolan Island has some interesting/amazing history worth a look on Wikipedia. Mining Jobs TV Episode 3 - Unskillled & Entry Level Mining Jobs

05:01
MINING JOBS TV Episode 3: Unskillled & Entry Level Mining Jobs Brought to you by www.miningresumes.com - Kick-start your mining career today and email us at [email protected] or call Mining Resumes on 1300 737 863 Welcome to Episode 3 of Mining Jobs TV. Hi my name is Matt and I will be speaking to you today about unskilled and entry level jobs in the Australian mining industry. Mining Jobs TV is a FREE online TV channel presenting regular episodes where we will discuss mining jobs and tips that will help you to secure a job in the industry. You may have probably heard the stories about a friend of a friend who is earning over $100,000 a year on a mine somewhere in Western Australia or Queensland and wondered how you could get a mining job too. Entry level or unskilled jobs, like trade assistants or plant operators are hard to get now as every man and his dog are applying for them. The best way to get these jobs would be to move out to the little mining towns and live there and register with all the labour hire companies, there are hundreds of them. Trades people like fitters, welders, boilermakers and electricians still have a fairly good chance of picking up work on mining sites. If you don't have a trade, doing a rigging or scaffolding course would give you a good chance at getting a job, the courses are only about 4 weeks long, but they are fairly expensive. Other unskilled or basic jobs available include cleaners, laundry workers and kitchen hands which is not difficult if you have hospitality training and experience. Talking to people who are currently working on mining sites can be a big help, especially if you have no previous experience or qualifications. It would be even better if you could get in contact with expats from your own country who are working on mining sites. They can let you know who to call and what you need to do. If you are inexperienced and unqualified you need to be fit and ready for physical labour. The work will be very repetitive and routine based with long 12 hour days, so you really need to be mentally prepared, as well as physically. Some mines will have a very high turnover of workers. This is because many people go to work on the mines not knowing what to expect. Because there can be such a high turnover, you may not start earning big money straight away, although your wages won't be small either. Once you've proved yourself to be a reliable worker, your wages should increase. Most mining companies will run police checks, as well as drug and alcohol tests. Even though there are wet mess areas on-site where workers can unwind and drink alcohol, they do have to drink in moderation and be fit-for-work before their shift starts Shutdowns are exactly what the name suggests. Every now and then mining sites need to shut down for upgrades, maintenance or repairs and they usually hire people temporarily to work during shut downs. A lot of the work is unskilled and doesn't last very long, so it's great for backpackers who want to keep on travelling and don't want to make a full-time commitment. It's also a great way to get your foot in the door and gain valuable on-site experience. To do certain mining jobs you will need to get licences and training, or 'tickets' as they are more commonly known. There are lots of different types of tickets depending on what type of work you're going to do. Some tickets can be very expensive and mines in different states require different tickets, so you really need to do your research before you start spending money on courses. Don't think that just because you're female that the mining companies and recruiters won't consider you. The mining industry in Australia is becoming increasingly gender neutral. It's not just cooking and cleaning jobs either on offer for women either; more and more women are working on Australian mining sites, and in some cases, companies even prefer women for certain jobs. For example, a popular job for women on mining sites is driving a dump truck because research has shown that women are easier on the multi-million dollar equipment yet still get the job done. It's most important to ensure you have the resume professionally worded and designed to stand out from your competitors. We highly recommended Mining Resumes to prepare your resume as they are the industry leaders in resume preparation for clients seeking jobs in the mining and oil & gas industry. They can be contacted via phone on 1300 RESUME or have a look at their website miningresumes.com with package details and samples browse that demonstrate their quality and experience. It's free! https://bit.ly/2F5Fuey Dirty Business: How Mining Made Australia is the history of Australian mining. It portrays how over the last 150 years mining has made Australia rich, yet created an unending struggle over who shares in the wealth. It reveals how mining helped forge democracy yet has repeatedly plotted to influence politics and even overthrow democratically elected leaders. Whilst mining has also been deeply damaging to Aboriginal society, ironically in the 21st century, it may be aboriginal people's best hope of economic self-determination.

When Glencore opened its new Ulan West mine near Mudgee, it took the unprecedented step of recruiting its staff from outside the industry known as "clean skins". This offered an opportunity for people from all walks of life to learn new skills and enter the mining industry as well as allowing Glencore to build the culture at this site from the ground up. This video features at the 2014 NSW Mining Health and Safety Conference where the theme is learning from the past for a safer future, with a focus on risk management and road and vehicle safety. Contractor Byrnecut Australia brought a Sandvik DD422i development drill to Western Australia’s Jundee gold mine in 2015 to test its automation benefits. During a three-month trial, Sandvik DD422i drilled in excess of 60,000 metres monthly. Consumable costs fell by 25 percent thanks to longer tool life and Byrnecut Australia halved its overbreak. More than a year later, Sandvik DD422i remains responsible for all development at the mine.

Heads Up Australia | Case study | Caterpillar Underground Mining

03:15
Caterpillar started a mental health first aid program in 2011, which has grown from a team of 16 in the first year to about 30 people in 2013. Mental health first aiders comprise a mix of workers across the company – from forklift operators to facility managers. Each has undergone a two-day mental health training session to help them identify signs of poor mental health or stress, approach colleagues who may be struggling, provide advice on available support and follow up as needed. Thank you to Fay Jackson who facilitated the Mental Health First Aid training at Caterpillar Mining.

Underground Training Systems - Introduction to Underground Mining

02:59
Underground Training Systems (UTS) has been set up to offer courses in hardrock underground mining (Gold, Nickel, Copper, Diamonds and many other base metals, excluding coal). Each course has been developed using our company Core Values and Positive Tips for Safety in a Hazardous Workplace . All courses are presented by a consultant that has a W.A shift boss ticket and more than 15 years practical underground mining experience. This gives the course participants a unique opportunity to ask questions and receive experienced answers about all different aspects of mining life. The jobs are Australia wide and there are roughly 23,000 hard rock miners within the Australian industry. The W.A. the Mines Department has estimated that between 10%-15% of these workers leave the industry every year. That works out to be 2300 to 3450 people that leave the industry every year (for a number of reasons) that need to be replaced. These entry level positions are filled with new starters that are commonly referred to as Green . This is where UTS Introduction to Underground Mining course has given employers the opportunity to employ people that have the knowledge of how an underground mine works and the entry level skills that they will be required to be performed. This allows a UTS graduate to become a useful member of an underground crew in 4-7 days of being on site. Entry level jobs covered include dump truck operator, nipper, drillers offsider and service crew member . By completing Introduction to Underground Mining over three days you will have the knowledge for us to present your resume to the relevant mining companies for entry level positions as part of our Placement Program . This program has been designed to give you the best possible chance to "get your foot in the door" and helpful staff who will start the employment process once you enrol.

The Fimiston Open Pit, colloquially known as the Super Pit, is Australia's largest open cut gold mine. The Super Pit is located off the Goldfields Highway on the south-east edge of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The pit is oblong in shape and is approximately 3.5 kilometres long, 1.5 kilometres wide and 570 metres deep. At these dimensions, it is large enough to be seen from space. The Super Pit is owned by Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd, a company owned 50/50 by Barrick Gold Corporation and Newmont Mining Corporation. The mine produces 850,000 ounces (28 tonnes) of gold per year, and employs around 550 employees directly on site.

Working Down the Mines

02:32
Pics I have scanned from my photos which have turned out quite well I thought. From when I worked underground 1968 - 1981. The first part is Windarra nickel mine, 212 miles north of Kalgoorlie Western Australia. This was a trackless decline with some pretty big gear, 35 ton Wigmore Caterpillar trucks which were a modified 631 scraper with a tipping body, and 3-boom Gardner Denver pneumatic jumbos. They had open stopes with longholes drilled with GD Airtracs and some bar-and-arm machines. From memory I think one of the big stope blasts was 100,000 tons. The mine closed in the early '80s and was gutted. There were a few deaths down there, all rockfalls, all on my shift, so R.I.P. to those guys. The second part is Lake View & Star gold mine, on Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Golden Mile. I worked there as a machine miner on airlegs doing shrink stoping and intermediate driving (drifting). We worked by ourselves with no partner which was the practise then. We used Holman's Silver 3s and Silver 900 airleg machines (jacklegs). Mucking out inter drives we used air or electric 2-drum scrapers into a raise. We used AN60 dynamite primers with ANFO and electric detonators or sometimes safety fuse. This was a "traditional" mine with rail drives leading to a vertical shaft about 3000' deep from memory. The mines on the Golden Mile no longer exist because they have been swallowed up by the Super Pit.

The World’s Strangest Underground Town in Australia

You wouldn’t quite believe it until you saw it. Today, we will take you to the moon, where you will view (with your own eyes) a bizarre moonscape comprising thousands of deep dark holes. Just joking! This is not the moon, this is White Cliffs. This is Australia mate! Set in the middle of nowhere (1100km north-west of Sydney) this dot of a town has a rich opal mining history dating back to the 1800’s. So much so, the landscape comprises thousands of hillocks of earth, dug and discarded in their quest to strike it rich, to find the mighty opal stone. And would you know it, some smart fella (probably a kiwi) decided that the best place to live was in these holes. Crikey! In this otherworldly destination, most of its 100 residents live underground, to escape the heat and the wild kangaroos that roam the outback. Is this the world’s most unusual town? The letter also noted that the mining contractor wouldn't allow the dancing workers to be subcontracted at any of its sites, in Australia or elsewhere. It's not clear from the video what safety violations took place, the Associated Press noted. According to West Australian, the dancing miners wore helmets, lamps and glasses, and had oxygen on hand.
