FINALE | Pokémon Trading Card Game #26 | ProJared Plays

2886 ratings | 37685 views
This is the Pokémon Trading Card Game! Not the actual card game, but the Game Boy Color game! It's the TCG from back when it was still actually good. I've never played this before, but I've heard good things and I want to give it a shot. ►New here? We are probably not seeing the sequel on this channel due to Projared being quite the scumbag on many fronts. Shame, I liked this series...

Unfortunately, I think this channel will soon die...

I am late to the party but, the Yami Jared really brought this playthrough home. Thank you so much Jared and Miss Editor! Also, there are a bunch of Duel Master RPGs for the GBA, if I recall correctly, as well as the PS2. The PS2 one isn't as good though story wise. Also there is a Yu Gi Oh GX style RPG on the GBA too
Reena Ribona (23 days ago)
Not judging miss editor how you edit 😗👌🏻 but missed opportunity for when Jared was being “yuri you could of made his webcam a little transparent would of been funny but not nessisary love your edits (if I had a channel I want my editor to behave like you miss editor

Can I say I’m impressed Jared kept the yugioh narration for 30 minutes straight

Out of the whole episode. the thing that makes me crack and start laughing is at 45:50. The cards va- vanish? from Ronald's deck? ... POOF!!! (Also. I beat this game as a kid. I don't remember the game suddenly being... so final fantasy at the end. The legendary card LITERALLY vanish from Ronald's deck, (45:50) Then the cards float in the air surrounded by energy, (46:25) And then the four card TALK TO YOU. (47:03) Like... up until you beat the game, everything was just... "Welcome to an island dedicated to playing pokemon TCG. like an island wide tournament." Then suddenly ends with, "These cards have magic and can talk." Though... It COULD also be, that, your character lost his [email protected]&ing mind at the end. He has been doing all this battling at this island wide tournament, and this all takes place in one day(I think). so once he finally beats the final 5, he is so tired and mental taxed, that he hallucinates the four cards vanishing, (instead of just being taken from Ronald.) them floating, and finally them talking too him. )

The first game console I could ever call my own was a Yellow Gameboy Color (Not the Pikachu/Pokemon edition) and my mum also bought me a copy of Pokemon Yellow and this game. I don't think I ever completed the game as a kid as I was much more interested in the "Core" games and didn't play the TCG, but I do have some nostalgia (Particularly the music!) of this game! Thanks to this play through I actually picked up the game on the 3DS Virtual Console and have started playing and enjoying it! Thank you very much ProJared and Ms. Editor!

Man, I love your Yu-Gi-Oh-style voice performances in this duel with Ronald. ProJared = Yugi Ronald = Yami Marik Awesome finale you did there, Jared. I won't forget how much a twist after beating Rod just when we thought it was over. ^^' But you.....you dueled and claim your prizes. ^_^
Awesome series, Jared! I'll be waiting for the TCG 2!

Sadly, I can't play card games since I was a kid; they tick me off. Backstory: When I was a kid and Pokemon & MTG were big, my friend learned both then 'taught' me. Of course, he taught me wrong...so he could kick my butt every time with made-up rules and tricks. Or he'd house-rule and then change his mind if the house rule hurt him later. Example: 'I don't think you should be able to attack after switching pokemon. You can't in the game!' (Said when I switched pokemon to thrash him, and he NEEDED to attack first to avoid pain) Then, when he needed to switch 'Oh yeah. I've been thinking; I agree that was stupid. We can attack after switching again'. The last straw was in Magic The Gathering: I had some sort of Viashino that was 'Immune to spells and abilities'. I was about to beat my 'friend' when he says 'Lightening Bolt!'. Me: You can't. He can't be targeted. Friend: Oh, it's a trick card! His immunity to abilities means he can't be affected by his OWN ability, which means he CAN be targeted! It's a really new errata because the card was written wrong. Cue a huge argument, and me storming out. I later think on it and look up the rules and realize he had been teaching me complete BS. Thinking back, I ALSO realize that his offers to 'help' me build a deck, and taking 'cruddy cards you don't use', were, in fact, him building me garbage decks, building pure counters to said decks to win, and taking valuble cards to sell or trade while claiming they were trash cards. Needless to say, I cut off all contact. People don't do that to friends. He took advantage of my trust to cheat, lie, and steal. When his mother asked me why I had stopped hanging out with her son, I told her. She wanted to give me all his cards in punishment, but I said 'I don't want to be like him and steal. I'm better than he is.'. So she took ALL his cards and locked them up for a year. She also called the local card store (It was a small shop owned by a local man) and told him NOT to sell to my ex-friend for that whole year. Of course, people THAT self-absorbed rarely think they are at fault when they get in trouble, so he blamed me for 'not keeping my mouth shut' and we became fast enemies. Even through high school, he still felt it was my fault we had a falling out. That I should have just 'sucked it up, like a real friend'. Because, in his head, a 'real friend' would let him use them. Pfeh. Still, that's why TCG's tick me off, even to this day. :P

You really believed in the heart of the cards, and it paid off! This was an amazing Finale!
Noble Einherjar (2 months ago)
Talk about a feel-good episode. Smiled and laughed a lot. Totally didn't expect you to narrate the entire final duel. That was awesome and hilarious. Congrats on beating the game! Looking forward to the sequel. I don't really know many other video games that are just straight-up card games. I only know stuff like Baten Kaitos. Pox Nora or Duelyst might count. Both are turn-based strategy games where your cards are your units, though you also have cards for things like spells, equipment, etc. Both games have pretty cool sprite art. I've heard that Witcher: Thronebreaker game is supposed to be a pretty cool "RPG but also a card game", too.
Nico Neko (2 months ago)
I absolutely adored watching this entire playthrough! I'd love to see you tackle a Yu-Gi-Oh game sometime! Especially "Nightmare Troubadour" on the DS!
Tsukikage noknight (2 months ago)
There is a Monster Rancher Card game for the PS1 as well as the Game boy I want to say. Digimon Digital Card Battle for the PS1. Magi Nation, while a great game is sadly not a card battle game, its actually closer to Magic: The Gathering or traditional Pokemon then Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon TCG. There is Duel Masters for the GBA I believe for another card game and from what I recall it is very similar to this game. I never played it, but there is the DBZ: CCG for the GBA (And another on the GBC).
Anthony Schiavone (2 months ago)
Hmm... some other card games you say? How about some more Slay the Spire? I love the heck out of that game and it's finally out of Early Access. Or you could try Baiten Kaitos for the GameCube. Never actually played that one but I heard it was good. As long as you bring that Yu-Gi-Oh passion to everything you do, I'll be there my dude.

dsproductions19 (3 months ago)
In terms of other games of this style (RPG-ish games centered around a TCG), there are at least a few YuGiOh games like this (with the card collecting, story progression, etc). The 3 I've played are YuDiOh Duel Academy on the GBA, Forbidden Memories on the PS1, and Duelist of the Roses on the PS2 (although the last ones *really* different, but still fun). I'm also sure there are plenty others, too. If you want to play more Pokemon, you could always play the online game a bit, and ask viewers for unused pack codes, since there are plenty of people who play the physical game, but not the digital one. Or, you could try MTG Arena, if you want to play Magic again. Just a few suggestions.
dsproductions19 (3 months ago)
24:27 - 46:08 is probably among the best endings to a series like this possible. Not only was the commentary amazing, but the duel was also a perfect fit for it. It was about 22 minutes, almost as long as a Yu-Gi-Oh episode, and full of back-and-forth changes in the momentum (but Jared still had control for the majority of the game). It was almost a perfect parody of Yugi vs Weevil/Kaiba. That alone made this among my favorite series on this channel (maybe even YouTube).
dsproductions19 (3 months ago)
9:58 I know this was a low moment for Jared this episode, but how did that noise *not* get some response from Ms. Editor?
Musiclover90 (3 months ago)
The Yu-Gi-Oh voices got me! I enjoyed this episode even more because of it!
RadKennster (3 months ago)
Does that mean we can also expect a Yu-Gi-Oh gameboy playthrough? lol

Honestly, keep playing games you like... it's a lot more fun when you enjoy yourself. I mean, the last entire fight was done as an anime card game battle. How fun was that?!?

Yugioh has a few rpgs. There's a battle city one that loosely follows the story of the Egyptian gods arc if that tickles your pickle 😁
Silly Goose (3 months ago)
The best duel of the century.
Daniel Jones (3 months ago)
The Yugi style final duel was awesome. But yeah, More card RPG's I'd be up for. Yu-hi-oh! did a lot of gamboy/GBA/DS games which had fun stories. Especially the 5D's era. But yeah, hype for Pokemon Card Game 2!

More card games! Any card games! Digital, physical, whatever. Slay the Spire? Eternal? Faeria? All of it!

Since you asked for more card games I used to play Yu Gi Oh Forbidden Memories and the Digimon Card Game both for ps1 and I'd be interested in watching you play them. The digimon one might suck. Haven't played in ages and never got very far but ill still watch if you decide to try it.

Fantastic ending to a fantastic LP. Heck I bought the game off the virtual console because of this LP. So much fun. Some of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Handheld games are pretty good. The console ones...eh not so much

I thoroughly enjoyed this series Jared, which I also did with the Magic Shandalar run. The strats you use, is what makes me come back to these videos time and time again. As a fan, who have never played the actual card games in real life, it is nice to see, that there are so many options, so much luck involved in playing these games. But, your content is always great Jared, and I'm glad Ms. Editor is in on it too. I look forward to the next card game endeavour!

Thanks for this playthrough. Pokémon TCG was my first Pokémon game and I played the heck out of it, later learning how to play it and did it competitively (never particularly well; got third at a tournament on like ten people once) for some time. While I've soured on Pokémon a bit since, this game has a lot of sentiment and it was great to watch you go through it. Bonus points for the full on YGO parody too. That was great.

I really enjoyed this play through. The last couple episodes with the Yu-Gi-Oh narration and such was fun and funny. Some of it was a little cringe worthy, but in a good way. The back and forth was fun to watch and the fact the cam switched back and forth was great.

First of all -- thank you for this series, Jared & Ms. Editor! I love this game to bits, and it was cool to see the flip side of experience between you two in this (as compared to Illusion of Gaia). Other card games I'd like to see you play? Of course, anything that strikes your fancy would be fun to see: M:tG, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh...heck, I'd even be down to watch you play Hearthstone. Or Stormbound! Or Shadowverse. Or...whatever the heck Artifact is? And while I recognize that you want to take a break from the GB Pokémon TCG content -- not to mention that this is the series' finale -- I personally would /love/ to see a bonus episode or two more of this where you take on the challenge machine in Dr. Mason's lab! You could see how far your Bug Brigade deck goes, or use it as an opportunity to try out decklists that people suggest~ As far as full-on card-game games go, the only one I've played much of recently myself is Monster Slayers on PS4. It's pretty hecking difficult, and there's some rather rough edges in terms of UI functionality and navigation, but I've found it to be quite engaging. If a roguelike deckbuilding game with fantasy setting and RPG elements sounds interesting to you, it gets my recommendation. (My favorite class by far is Merchant, for the best chance of finding all the most fun cards for my dream deck~) Outside of the card format, there's all /kinds/ of things you could play. I saw someone suggest Cave Story; I'd second that. There's also a bajillion SNES games I'd love to see you check out: Cybernator, Run Saber, Demon's Crest, Battleclash...that list goes on and on. And, er...apologies if this is, perhaps, /too many/ suggestions. It's hard to be sure where the line is between "offering a helpful number/variety of ideas" and "inflicting analysis paralysis". ^_^;
Ruly Tasho (3 months ago)
You did that whole last battle like a YuGiOh! episode! that wouldn't come up as a surprice, since you're an amazing Dungeon Master too! Amazing work, Jared!
Limbo08 (3 months ago)
This was a great series! I had a really good time putting this on in the evening after work and just chilling. I would love to see more trading card game on your channel, but I think I'd prefer stuff like this and Shandalar were there's story/rpg elements in the game, rather than straight up PvP.
