i try to put gtx 1060 6 gb card on my h97 gaming 3 motherboard with riser, but after 2-3 tries card fried, death i send back to card,6 months later i try to sec attempt with same riser (v6 black riser) different gtx 1060 and same motherboard and that card fried too,i send again,i m afraid to mine again, can be riser fried gpu?Cuz motherboard have x16 and x8 slot no problem without riser mining, but i m really worry about i m gonna fry my 3rd gtx 1060 too.

thanks for the all help and information
Brightlord (1 month ago)
Today i looked msi h97 gaming 3 page it says if you put x4 slot a card pci x1 slots will be blocked.i guess this is main reason.
TheBitcoinMiner (1 month ago)
You're most likely right it is the risers, I would try another one from a different manufacturer and from a trusted source.
Brightlord (1 month ago)
+TheBitcoinMiner power supply fine evga 1600 g2 i powered up risers with molex to sata but in installing phase cards just died.i think its riser but i m not sure about that.
TheBitcoinMiner (1 month ago)
Hi Brightlord, so sorry to hear you're having trouble but most likely you have a bad Riser or bad batch. Especially since the card works just fine on the motherboard by itself. It could also potentially be the power supply and how you are powering the riser. what type is it? I would try to get my hands on some of the newest SATA risers and try that. GL

Unfortunately I bought a Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 motherboard combo from gpushack and after two weeks of mining, the motherboard failed. Gpushack refused to honor the 3-year warranty. I ended up buying a replacement board on Amazon, swapping the CPU and memory from the bad one, and it has been working non-stop without a hitch. As shown in this video, Amazon is a good source for motherboards. Buyer beware.

How long do the the GPU rigs last? Do the last longer than ASIC miners?
weisgamererz (1 year ago)
Joshua Grasmick from what I’ve heard the reason you would go with gpu over asic is power consumption not longevity as asic chips use LOADS of power where as gpus use way less

Do you talk about why you chose the EVGA 1600 T2? You said in another video you talked about why you choose that power supply. Can you make a link in that video to the time slot of where that explanation is, or create a whole new video just on that subject? Thanks. That would help a lot.

I have a problem: PC doesn't boot with second PSU on. 6 GPUs (GTX 1070) This is my first mining rig for Ether. I finally managed to get my hands on on[i][u][b] 6 1070 8 GB GPU for Ether mining. Following are the Specs: Motherboard - Asus Prime Z270-A CPU- Intel Pentium G4400 @3.30 GHz RAM - 4 GB Corsair HDD- 120 GB Samsung EVO GPUs- 5 Founder's Edition 1070 -8 GB and 1 PNY 1070 8 GB PSU- 2x 750 Watt EVGA Supernova 750B, I am using one for mobo, CPU, HDD and 3 GPUs Second for purely 3 GPUs (with that 24 pin connector shorted) OS - Windows 10 pro So my problem is if I turn both PSUs, PC doesn't boot. it gets stuck on a black screen with blinking white cursor (?) on top left corner. :( And if I turn the second PSU after system has booted it does not recognise those 3 GPUs powered by second PSU. ??? I am not an expert PC builder so please let me know if I am making any stupid mistake. I am not even sure if I need 1500 Watt or I could do with just 750 watt. I did this way cuz it was cheaper this way and I figured I would get enough 6+2 pin connectors. I watchedwatched your Angry Chicken's, Guntis Vitolins', bits be trippin's videos, nobody seems to be facing such issue. One weird thing i observed is, GPU fans turm on for all 6 GPUs even if only main PSU is on and second PSU is off. Only power it would get is from the risers which are powered by main supply, cuz I read anything on Mobo directly should be same PSU (?). Thank you for your help.

Hi I've been looking to build a x6 1070 mining rig but the power aspect is getting confusing. From what I read, I will need to use 6 pin to 8pin connectors to power the video cards (1 for each, or 2 for each if the cards requires it but how do you find so much connectors)) and 6 pin connectors again for the powered pcie risers (1 for each). Thats a total of 12 6pin connectors (assuming only 1 per card) and even with 2 PSU that wouldn't be enough. What I'm I not getting right?
Vakz-kaz (1 year ago)
im interest in this, what are require in the rigs(full list)? n does it require ventilation?

Building a mining rig can be a decent way to mine ethereum but its much easier to use a cloud mining service like https://www.genesis-mining.com/a/306840 because they will maintain all the hardware for you.

cloud mining is a scam

LOL not really...how is it that I'm in the positive then? Hmmm..... Not wise to speculate mate. If has brains they wont lose money...for those that lose money, likely didn't think it through... that's on them..

It works for mining dash. I have an ether and a dash contract, ether is losing too much per day but dash is making a lot.
Don't Know (1 year ago)
Cloud mining is either WAY less profit, or scams. Stick to home built rigs.

Does it ever pay itself back? How about maintainence costs? What about power prices?

Trollvor - The CS:GO Idiot don't need to save up my parents are giving me a small loan of a million dollars 😂
its not a get rich fast type of investment, rather very long term. if you invest a bit (+5000$) in a rig, read up and learn the market, it's more like a hobby with income, and hobby do cost money. if you can, save up the coins you mine, if you believe it will be profitable over time, or trade to altcoins you believe in. Alot you can do, but yes, it will eventually pay itself back - in months - depending on your power costs. I live in Norway and only pay 0.04$ kW/h, and very cold here so its perfect. Im about to invest in 12x 1080ti.

Thanks for your video! I have a 1050ti which is an "unpowered" graphics card. So I wonder what kind of a PCI-riser I need for that - eg one that provides additional power via PCI or not?
TheAptimn (1 year ago)
Joshuamiika right, except for they say if you run more than three cards, you'd still need to stream more power to them.
Joshuamiika (1 year ago)
TheAptimn All risers are the same, really. you just wouldn't ned any 6 or 8 pin connectord.

Nice video... how did you connect the USB pci e adapter to the 2 pci slots because on my mother board they do not fit.. the notch on th USB adapter that goes into the motherboard will not allow me to connect it. Please help

which mining is better, gpu or s7. and tell me about its profit and power bill per month,
ArkaSEN1151 (10 months ago)
Mason DOTNET depends of asic miner u choise, usb or big asic,if u use usb asic, they are not power hungry
ArkaSEN1151 (10 months ago)
490fight i recomend u to mine monero or litecoin, those coins can converted to bitcoin,so,u can gained more equal profits!!!!!!
Mason DOTNET (1 year ago)
GPU for sure, asic's are power hungry and expensive. GPU's are much cheaper for the same amount per day and much more power efficient.

how did you get mobo on risers? you said you used tubing as spacer. do we just cut the size we want and then drill a screw into the wood from on top of mobo?

Is there a difference between the 8gb 480 and the 4gb?
Mason DOTNET (1 year ago)
As far as I know the difference will be slight, just a faster memory clock on the 8gig version. But I say go for the 4gb depending on how much cheaper it is
i have 2 questions brother . your setup how much generate bitcoin ??? in one day or in one month second . can i mining litecoin in Dell poweredge server

What is the adaptor´s name where you insert the PCI graphic card towards the end of the video? Thanks.

Hey man! Excellent video as always. I just have 1 question that's been burning in my mind for a while. When it comes to the 1x to 16x PCIe extensions will having a usb/sata extension matter opposed to a ribbon/molex setup or is it more for aesthetics? Thanks for your help!

TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
Hi marcos69142, "Hello what do you think of using plates Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ (8GB, Premium)" if I understand this from Google translator right yes I do like the card I think they're very good.
Said Gören (2 years ago)
is there any difference between 4GB and 8GB graphic cards for mining ? 4GB RX 470 is 250 USD, 8GB RX470 is 316 USD.
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
Yes if you can overclock the ram that much but as far as I know you cannot.
Said Gören (2 years ago)
Well, If I buy 4 GB graphic cards then modify its bios, I will get the same hashrate as 8 GB ???
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
The 8 gigabyte is better out of the box but if you're willing to do a bios mod you can get the 4 gigabyte to do the same thing from my understanding.
Said Gören (2 years ago)
is there any difference between 256 bit and 512 bit on graphic cards for mining ?
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
As far as I know it makes no difference for mining.

This looks so fun! I want to build a mining rig, so I put this on my bucket list. I like computers, building things, and begin creative. Im kinda a entrepreneur person; I come up with alot ideas that I wish I could make. I need to learn to code website, make apps, and programs. Why does life have so much interesting things when I cant fulfill everything >_<
what GPU will be use
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
6 Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 480 8GB:http://amzn.to/2bOdFHD
My friend I have a question how much power will be mining and is it better than the mining equipment
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
Hi ‫عبدالله الخالدي‬‎ , the newer graphics cards will pull about 1200 watts which is about the same as an antminer S7 or S7 and in an initial result they can generate be twice as much money =)
Mr Noh (2 years ago)
For me, Latest best value for money GPU today is MSI radeon RX 470 at less than US$200 more than 20Mhashes/card at 145watt/card overclock..and MSI GeForce 1060 at 25% more hashes and 12% higher price.
TheBitcoinMiner (2 years ago)
Hi Mr Noh, thanks for sharing have definitely been trying to get my hands on a couple of =)
